8 January is Campus SuperStar champion Shawn Tok's 14th birthday. How time flies...he was only a tiny silly little fellow when he 1st auditioned for Campus SuperStar. At that age, he was thrown into the limelight experiencing not even what any normal adult would have to endure.
From being called the 'contestant who was the biggest threat to all other boys' to elimination at quarter final round and winning the overall championship in the end, Shawn became quite a sensation on TV.
Shortly after winning, he was already a star in MediaCorp's 'Power of TV' ad across all Mediacorp's 6 channels, acted in the lead role in an upcoming CNY movie and a six-part Kids Central's aka 'High School Musical', sang at large scale charity show and appeared in many music videos and mega events! He has far surpassed season 1 winner even though Zhiyang was a more composed singer.
The audience loves Shawn. You can tell from their warm reaction when he performed for them at charity shows and outdoor events. You will never fail to find a smile on their faces whenever Shawn is singing. Entertainment has alot to do with that 'X-factor'. With a baby face and sometimes 'less-than-perfect' singing skills, his 'flaws' are making him more 'human' and 'unique' than season 1's winner who was already a pitch-perfect singer and a straight A scholar at age 17.
I remember Shawn who smsed me about his regrets when his mum refused to speak to him when he didn't dress appropriately and sang well enough at the AMK Hub opening...
I remember how Shawn was super-elated when I got JJ Lin to take a photo with him (Shawn stored the photo on his handphone to show off to all his peers at every opportunity). Shawn was already a star (even JJ's mummy recognised him instantly and wanted a photo with Shawn) but never once behaved like one...
I remember an exuberant Shawn when he excitedly told me he had grown taller by 3 inches...haha that boy...
Most 'boys will turn into men' for the 1st time at age 14 with many physical changes starting to take place. Shawn may loose his baby face soon...his child-like vocal...

I love to watch shawn singing on stage n tv. He got a natural smile that make ppl like him n he is not proud at all. He will turn to an adult very soon must be very handsome i think. Everyday b4 i sleep i will go to youtube to watch him sang and my alarm oso his ringtone thinking tat he was wakeing me up to school. Haha Jiayu Shawn n always support u like buying 30 donunts from u n wherever i noe u appear i will be there for u but i dun noe whether did u notice me anyway never mind. Must study hard for your exam
